Chess Premier League 2022
 Vivek Chess Academy emerged champion after the side witnessed some close contest against WhiteKnights in the Jammu Chess Premier League which was organized under the banner of Jammu District Chess Association at Hotel Nek, here today. Hockey J&K president and member J&K Sports Council, Rajiv Sharma was chief guest, who declared open the event amidst encouragement of the players and the organisers. “The chief guest appreciated the efforts of Chess Association for evolving innovative ways to better the performance of youngsters. He also announced Rs 20,000 cash award for the winningteam,” informed president of All J&K Chess Association, Atul Kumar Gupta. He further said that other team owners distributed the reserved cash awards of Rs.48000 among players. There were five pools comprising strong (above 1500) rated players, Medium (below 1500) rated players, women, Under-14and Under-10. While pool-A players were paid Rs 5000 each, Pool B, C and Pool D players got Rs 2000 each. Pool Eplayers were paid Rs 1000 each. Earlier, over 100 players applied for leagueout of which 20 were selected by the owners. Pool A: Atul Kumar Gupta,Ajit singh, Arushi Kotwal and Danish Pathania. Pool- B: Aakash Singh Bhatia, Ravi Kumar, Superb Jain and Ankush Bhardwaj. Pool C: Srujanika Gupta, Manasvi Gupta,Amrita Gupta and Sonali Manhas. Pool D: Pazhany Kohli, Laksh Chowdhary, Aarav Gupta and Vansh Bakshi. Pool E: Aadvik Gupta, Ishaan Chowdhary, Paras Sharmaand Viraj Singh Jamwal. At the closing of the event,vice president of the AJKCA, Baldev Raj complimented the winning team andappreciated those young participants for their performance.

Jammu district Chess championships  from 14.10.2022  at 08 am at Nek Hotel, below gumat Jammu. (In Classical Format)

Jammu district chess championshis in all the age groups will be held at NEK Hotel below gummat jammu from 14.10.2022 to 17.10.2022. Players must register themselves upto 12.10.2022 (17.00 Hours) for the said championship with Arvindu sharma at mobile 7006939984. No onspot entry will be allowed. Any player from J&k can participate.

Entry Fee – Rs.500/- per player for each separate category event .

Please note – AICF registration for year 2022-23 is must.

Please note – As per J&K Govt. Latest directions for  SRO related benefits , playing at district level is compulsory.

Participation  certificate will be given to all the participants.

For Junior categories birth certificate which is registered within one year of birth with Muncipality or panchayat will only be valid as per AICF rules.

Soham bags Independence Cup Chess title



Due to some technical issue and correct age limit issue being occurred in making the final list of winners. the winners were not asked to return their prizes but instead of that the deserving participants received their honor. the final list of winners mentioned below.

JAMMU, August 13: National under-18 champion and J&K’s top rank, Soham Kamotra won the Independence Cup Chess Tournament which was organized by IDPS School Sunjwan in collaboration with Dainik Shiv Times Media under the banner of All J&K Chess Association. In total, 90 participated were there to compete for the top honours in this Rs 50,000 cash prize event. Others, who emerged winners in their respective categories included Manoj Kohli (best veteran), Sonali Manhas (best woman), Aarav Gupta (Best Under-14) and Paras Sharma (Best Under-10). Sumit Grover, Akashdeep Singh Bhatia, Ajit Singh, Angad Singh, Amandeep and Ravi Kumar bagged won second to seventh position respectively in the Open category. Similarly, in Under-14 group, Manasvi Gupta, Lakshya Choudhary, Srujanika and Avasyu Singh Kotwal secured second to fifth spot respectively. In Under-10 age group, Pazhany Kohli, Viraj Singh, Aahana Gupta & Ishwam Kawatra were second to fift respectively. Arvindu Sharma was chief Arbiter of the event. Prizes were distributed Shahnaz Akhter in presence of Atul Kumar Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association, Managing Directors of IDPS, Suminder Singh and Swaran Choudhary, MD Shiv Times Media, Akshit Mahajan and Principal IDPS, Randeep Wazir. Earlier, Meenu Mahajan handed over the torch to Commonwealth gold medalist, Meenal Gupta for Relay. The event was inaugurated by Devia Nanda (JKAS), who was chief guest, while Sohail Kazmi, member Waqf Board was guest of honour.
